Anthonie Sas was born in 1940 in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands as Anthonie Cornelis van der Veen.
Working as a graphic artist under the name Anton van der Veen he was awarded a Arts Council Award of Great Britain. in 1976 and in 1977 a Special Edition Purchase Award of the World Print Competition by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
Later on he took on painting under the name of his maternal grandfather Anthonie Sas.
Meanwhile he wrote poems.
He lives and works in Bergen (North Holland,) the Netherlands.
